How I got into talking about skincare:

We all have our favorite ride-or-die products that we swear by. For a long time, I was using the same type of drug store acne face wash, filled with sulfates, very harsh chemicals, and acids to make my skin supposedly look better.

I was sticking to these products because they convinced me it would work, even though bottle after bottle, I wasn't seeing any real change. If anything, the stress of them not working was making me breakout more.

This was the real turning point for me in my interest in skincare. Because it made me realize that just because I was spending money (sometimes A LOT of money), it didn't necessarily mean it would help my skin type.

After quite some trial and error, I developed quite a bank of products that I use for various reasons. I was getting a lot of questions about how my skin looks good and would recommend things to friends, but I wanted to start reaching out to other people who had questions.

With this weekly series of illustrations, I highlight some of my favorite products, why they work, and how to use them. I try to show products that aren't super expensive, but I'll will occasionally recommend an exfoliating scrub or product that while although spendy, is totally worth it.

This series is important because we want to feel good about ourselves. We want to put our best foot (and face) forward! Getting serious about skincare has helped me be more confident in myself and I hope I can help others feel good too.
